France Equidae Milk

Press Release

France equidae milk has just seen the light of day at the recent Salon de Agriculture, during which its founding members held their constitutive General Assembly, elected their first Board of Directors and elected their president, Madame Julie Decayeux.

The creation of the first Syndicate bringing together French producers and processors of donkey and mare's milk was initiated by the French Society of Working Equids (SFET) which understood that the profession is being structured in order to gain visibility and credibility.

This is a real revolution for the (European) world of milk , too often confined to ruminant milk (cattle, sheep, goats), unlike what is practiced in Central Asia where mares' milk has been consumed since the dawn of time.

While favoring purebred breeding, France equidae milk is open to all producers and processors in the sector. The preservation by the promotion of locally adapted old breeds will help its members to develop the marketing of their production to consumers'actors more and more concerned with respect for the environment and the maintenance of biodiversity, whether domestic or wild.

The “infant milk” dossier, brought by the Council of the Horses of Normandy to ANSES and Europe in order to recognize the milk of equines, naturally close to human milk, as an ingredient that can be used in the preparation of milk for infants and young children, is one of the priority issues of the very young union. Equine milk, which has been proven to be digestible for humans, is in fact the only milk from a non ruminant animal available on the market.
